New Trailer Arrives For THE MUMMY- Plus New Details!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

Universal has been preparing to take it's Classic monsters and give them reboots for a good while now. The studio is in the process of bringing them back to life on the big screen, with the idea of creating it's own universe to where characters can cross over from different films.

One of the projects in particular that has been on the forefront is a reboot for THE MUMMY. With the film set to be released this summer, and today we bring you the new international trailer which you will find just below.

Alex Kurtzman directs and produces THE MUMMY with Jon Spaihts responsible for the script.

Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, and Sofia Boutella, are joined by Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, Marwan Kenzari, Javier Botet, and Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll.

EW spoke with director Alex Kurtzman and star Sofia Boutella and they revealed some backstory on Boutella’s Princess Ahmanet, whose father went back on his promise to make her pharaoh once he had a son. This led to Ahmanet using dark magic get what she wanted as Kurtzman describes her as:

“a woman who wasn’t content to be put in her place and wanted something more.”

Sofia Boutella says of her character:

“These people never shouted. They were the most powerful people, but they were just calm.”

Kurtzman went on to confirm that we will not be seeing the whole Universal Monster gang in this debut film, despite the appearance of Dr. Jekyll in the trailers:

“The movie’s called ‘The Mummy,’ not ‘The Mummy Meets 12 Other Monsters. If we create a world that feels interesting and scary, then we will have succeeded in setting up the larger universe.”

Synopsis:

"Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters."

Look for THE MUMMY to arrive in theaters June 9, 2017.
