Some RAWHEAD REX Collectible Action - Chomp This!

Hey Bidites, I thought I'd share my Rawhead Rex collectibles here. I'll start with the first kit I ever bought The Pagan King Rawhead Rex sculpted by Shawn Nagle and released by Ren Factory. I've been collecting for years and their is something special about old RAWHEAD that I just love.

For those of you not familiar with the 1986 film here is a synops and trailer:

Rawhead Rex is a 1986 British horror film directed by George Pavlou and written by Clive Barker. The film is about a monstrous pagan god's bloody rampage through the Irish countryde, and based on the short story by Clive Barker that originally appeared in vol. 3 of his Books of Blood series. Pavlou and Barker had previously worked together on Transmutations (also known as Underworld).

The next one is from a line of kits called Monster Babies. Rawhead Rex Jr. from C & Cs Toys & Models.

Let me know what you think guy's.

Here's some Rawhead comic goodness. Nightbreed VS Rawhead Rex was released in 1992 and

ran through issues 13 thru 16 of Nightbreed from Epic comics. The story uses the books plot as the starting point even through the degn of the movie is used for the artwork. Rawhead is brought back to life through a black magic ritual. The ritual uses a Nightbreed baby to give Rawhead Rex life.

Here's the adaption worked on by Clive Barker of his story Rawhead Rex for Eclipse Comics. This Rawhead is supposedly how Barker envioned him when he wrote the story. Not my favorite rendition of old Rawhead but i bought it because it is Rawhead afterall. The

artwork by Les Edwards is amazing and the plot pretty much follows the

original Books Of Blood story.

Been awhile guys but here is some new Rawhead Rex art I have picked up. This piece has a little history behind it so here is the story as told by the seller.

Let me explain. In 1988, then unknown writer Steve Niles had a short-lived comic company called Arcane Comix. During the company's brief existence, contactwas made with then new

horror writing sensation, Clive Barker, and together Niles and Barkerproduced several projects, including a magnificent portfolio of lithographs of Barker's beautifully painted cover art for THE BOOKS OF BLOOD series, and a collection of Barker's pen and ink drawings in Arcane's

anthology, FLY IN MY EYE. During this time, I was the Art Director for Arcane Comix, and

degned both the portfolio and the anthology.

Other projects in the works before the company's collapse were other publications that

included a comics adaptation of Barker's SECRET LIVE OF CARTOONS, an adaptation of

Richard Matheson's I AM LEGEND (later published by Eclipse), a collection of Matt Howarth's

early Post Brothers comics, and a comics adaptation by Stephen Bissette of Barker's gruesome RAWHEAD REX. This promotional poster for REX was the only item produced by Bissette and

published by Arcane before the company's unfortunate demise.

Produced in July 1988, the poster was produced for distribution at that year's San Diego Comic-Con, along with posters for some of the other planned projects. The poster itself was printed ung two

colored lk screening -- black and red ink on a light gray card stock. It measures 11 inches by 17

inches and had a print run of a couple of hundred copies, most of which were distributed at the

convention. The copy being offered for sale is from my archives and is in NEAR MINT condition.

So here are some pics.

fallon6190 Wednesday 5/04/2011 at 04:36 PM | 75518
Hey guys been awhile nce I posted anything new in this Rawhead Rex section but, I got

something to share with you today. This past Friday I traveled to Dallas for Texas Frightmare Weekend 2011. I could only go one day because of work. My main objective was to meet

Clive Barker who would be gning there the whole weekend. I took various things to get gned posters, books, and my Rawhead Rex bust. I stood in line for five hours to see him. It was worth it when he saw the bust.

One of Clive's helpers saw me outde with the bust and asked if he could take a pic of it. I told him sure he snapped the pic and returned to the room Clive was in. He later came back out to

me and said Clive was blown away by it and couldn't wait to see it up close. I was excited to get the chance to show it to him. When he saw it he said he loved it and asked me if I made it my self.

I was in awe of the man but, I explained to Clive that I had commisoned someone to make it for me. Clive wanted me to let the artist know how impressed he was with his work. I told him the guys name

Jonathan Fuller and his webte Monster Asylum.com. Clive had his asstant write down the info.

Clive then asked me why I loved Rawhead so much. I explained to him why and told him I found out

about his work through the film. He told me he always had this vion of Rawhead a puddle of organs

and flesh turned inde out and then when he's unearthed he starts to mutate into his normal form.

Kinda like Frank in the first Hellraiser film. Clive said we should do that when we get to the remake. I

said your doing a remake and Clive smiled and said no. He did say the rights would be reverting back to him soon though. He said the only thing that needed work was the hair. I told him I agreed and was thinking of getting

him rehaired. Clive asked me if I had a artist in mind and I told him yeah her name is Laura Lady. He said for me to give him my contact info that he would love to work with her on the project. He looked at the Rawhead bust and said he always wanted to incorporate some kind of markings or tattoos on Rawhead to show his age and that he is the last of his kind. Clive gned the bust and asked me if I would mind I said no whatever you want to do is fine with me. Clive actually drew a tattoo on my Rawhead bust. It was awesome man. He then shook my hand and reminded me to leave my contact info. I was so stoked. Here are some pics.
