Whenever an iconic character meets another iconic character, time almost seems to stand still. When the Wolfman battled Frankenstein the world collectively gasped as they awaited a victor. When Alien met Predator we held onto our seats. Freddy taking on Jason was such a surreal experience the first time around that it seems that no other match ups could have really blown us away in such a manner.
As it turns out, Cheech and Chong meeting Jason was actually pitched as a film idea. Post Mortem spoke with JASON LIVES director Tom McLoughlin and he spoke of a pitch that he once gave to Paramount, who owned the Cheech and Chong rights:
“I said, ‘You know what? You guys own Cheech and Chong. What if we do Cheech and Chong-meets-Jason? They’re like camp counselors or something. It’s like, ‘Hey, man, I saw Jason out there.’ ‘No, man, that’s a myth.’ But he said, ‘You know what? No.”
Wow, just think how wild that would have been. One can almost imagine the duo being at Camp Crystal Lake in some counselor fashion, stoned and partying with the legend of Jason being told to them. Then they finally meet him and the ride would begin. You never know.
