Character Details For MTV’s SCREAM Season 3 Are Within!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

MTV's SCREAM TV series made some waves with it's second season as well as the 2-hour Halloween special, MTV announced back in October that SCREAM had been renewed for a much shorter, six-episode, third season.

We learned not long ago that Season 3 of MTV’s SCREAM would be receiving the reboot treatment. That means a new cast as well as new storylines.

With casting currently underway for the new season, a casting breakdown reveals the names and details of the five main characters.

New characters for Season 3:

1. DION

“First up is Dion, a Michael B. Jordan-esque football player on track to score a college scholarship — that is, until a masked killer uses Dion’s darkest secrets against him, turning his life upside down and making him question his own sanity.”

2. LIV

“Liv is Dion’s cheerleader girlfriend, as beautiful as she is brilliant. She’s also down to lend a helping hand where needed, though her good intentions often land her in hot water.”

3. KYM

“Kym is the rebellious one of the group, always willing to say what everyone else is thinking. She’s organized and protective, two qualities that will serve her well when a killer starts targeting her friends.”

4. BETH

“Beth is a little different from her fellow seniors, sporting a goth look and a morbid collection of interests. A “walking encyclopedia of all things horror,” she’s compared to The Craft‘s Fairuza Balk..”

5. JAMAL

“And then there’s Dion’s step-brother Jamal. Despite hanging out with a rough crowd, he’s got a big heart and an undying loyalty to Dion.”

TV Line reports that MTV is stressing diverse casting for the third season, with the characters of Dion and Jamal both to be played by black actors. Actresses of diverse backgrounds are being considered for the roles of Liv and Kym.

Michael Gans and Richard Register, who were the showrunners for the show will not be returning for Season 3.

The new showrunner will be Brett Mat Matthews, who wrote for THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and SUPERNATURAL. Matthews will be joined by Queen Latifah. Shakim Compere and Yaneley Arty will be executive producing by way of Latifah's Flavor Unit Entertainment banner. Harvey and Bob Weinstein are still on as executive producers courtesy of Dimension TV.

THR previously reported that the new season will attempt to be “less white”.

The late Wes Craven will be credited as producer.

Insiders are saying that the rebooted Season 3 "will be more inclusive as the series looks to put a new spin on a proved concept that has not been embraced on the small screen”.

No premiere date has been set for the third Season as of yet, but the show will air sometime in 2018.

We will continue to bring you more on the Season 3 of SCREAM as we hear it.
