Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
Leading up until now, CHILD'S PLAY franchise screenwriter Don Mancini has openly stated that he was set up a Chucky TV series with the ending of the most recent film, CULT OF CHUCKY. With all of the possession stuff happening there, it did seem a little far fetched that the TV series would jump right onto this concept.
As it turns out, a new direction is planned as Don Mancini and executive producers David Kirschner and Nick Antosca are developing the new series at SYFY.
While speaking to SlashFilm, Antosca revealed that CHUCKY (the working title for the series) will be more back to basics:
"The series is going to be closer to the tone of the first two movies in the series ... It's going to go back to a sort of classic scare."
"It's consistent with that mythology, but it’s a whole new story. So you could come into it without knowing anything about the previous stuff and get into it. But it is consistent with all the mythology that has come before, so it is in canon."
While Brad Dourif will be providing the voice of the killer doll. Other actors from the movies will not be the leads, however they are penciled in to appear:
"They might pop in eventually, but it’s new characters. I don't want to say anything definitive. I want to leave that to Don, but let's just say that there might be opportunities in the story for Jennifer or Fiona to make an appearance."
We will keep you up to date on the upcoming CHUCKY TV series as we hear it.
