In 1973, Tobe Hooper, a cast of unknown actors, and a crew of Austin film students and recent graduates headed to Round Rock, Texas in the middle of July. For the next 32 days they worked around the clock in 100 degree weather to make THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. The movie became a huge hit on the drive in circuit and eventually grossed $30 million. With the 40th anniversary of the film quickly approaching, MPI/Dark Sky Films will be re-releasing the original classic with a brand new 4k transfer.
In regards to his newly restored film coming to theaters, Tobe Hooper had this to say:
“I haven’t seen The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on the big screen for many, many years. This 40th anniversary restoration is absolutely the best the film has ever looked. The color and clarity is spectacular, displaying visual details in the film that were never before perceptible. The newly remastered 7.1 soundtrack breathes new life and energy into the film. I am very much looking forward to audiences experiencing this film as they never have before”.

Depicted wearing a blood-stained apron over a short sleeve collared shirt with a tiny blue tie hanging down from his neck, this Leatherface bears the old school skin mask and is shown with a mallet raised in his right hand.
The Leatherface figure is due out sometime before Halloween.
TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D the movie was made famous for not recognizing the any of the previous films except for the original. Many fans praised this notion and it offered closure for a lot of questions. Mixed reactions and reviews were the backlash after all was said and done but nonetheless, that particular film made a lasting statement. So much so that now it looks as if a sequel is on the agenda according to a representative from Millennium Films:
"While the film’s development is taking a bit longer than usual, it is still an active project on Millennium Films’ slate."
