First Official Look At The New Pennywise Within!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

The new adaptation of Stephen King's IT has really been cooking as of late. We know that the plan is for the project to be presented in two separate films which is being produced by Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg. MAMA director Andy Muschietti is directing.

It was just yesterday that we brought you some images from the fictitious town of Derry, Maine. And today we have something really special for you.

EW has given us the first look at Bill Skargard as the new Pennywise.

Skarsgard told EW:

“It’s such an extreme character. Inhumane. It’s beyond even a sociopath, because he’s not even human. He’s not even a clown. I’m playing just one of the beings It creates.” He continues, stating that everyone purposefully went away from the “greasy” clown look that Heath Ledger created for The Joker. “It’s important that we do something fresh and original for this one. It’s purposely not going toward that weird, greasy look.”

He adds:

“It truly enjoys the shape of the clown Pennywise, and enjoys the game and the hunt. What’s funny to this evil entity might not be funny to everyone else. But he thinks it’s funny.”

The current cast for the new IT adaptation is made up of Nicholas Hamilton, Sophia Lillis, Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Owen Teague, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Javier Botet and Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise the Clown.

With the new IT project being planned as two separate films, we can expect to see the point of view from the kids in one film and the other film being that of the adults. Producer Roy Lee previously stated that an R-rating was to be the goal.

The book was previously adapted by Tommy Lee Wallace as a 1990 two part, three hour event miniseries on ABC, starring Tim Curry as Pennywise.

Original Synopsis for IT:

"It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real… They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But none of them can withstand the force that has drawn them back to Derry to face the nightmare without an end, and the evil without a name."

Remember to mark September 8th, 2017 on your calendar as this is the official release date for Part 1 of the new adaptation of Stephen King's IT.
