The Next Level in Halloween Maze Madness: Blackout

I had been hearing whispers about a new terrifying attraction that was caung panic attacks and in some cases, trauma. Of course I'm curious, right? It is called BLACKOUT, and has been a huge hit in New York. Well, I'm not going to New York, so imagine my excitement when I received an invite for the BLACKOUT opening here in Los Angeles. Is it a disturbing as people have been saying? I'll do my best to explain without spoilers...

BLACKOUT is located on the second floor of an old building in Downtown Los Angeles. I know the area well because as a child, my mother would take me down there for the movies and shopping. So the location alone is creepy, but I wasn't apprehenve yet.

When I got up to the second floor I walked into a dark room and was greeted by two ladies at a table with just enough light to see and gn a legal waiver. YES, they make you gn a waiver, hmmmm, this is getting interesting. I wandered to the white "X" and waited my turn. You can hear screaming and people walk out with clothing misng ! WOW!

Eventually, a man comes out from behind the black plastic curtain and flashes a light in your eyes. You're up. From here on I'm going to get vague as not to spoil the experience and also to protect myself (they DO know who you are and where you live).

You are lead down a path and shoved into a dark room and repeatedly assaulted. You will crawl, you will experience stink, uncomfortable sexual tuations (YES), and aggreson. You will be forced to exert yourself and be tested phycally and Psychologically. If you can equate it to film, I would say it is a combination of SAW, Hostel, Amateur Porn Star Killer, and maybe even Barn of the Living Dead.

Did it scare me? I was a little scared at first. Anticipation of death is worse than death itself. It was exhilarating and even a little aroung (hey, sue me). When I made it out, a little lighter on clothing, I was glad I did, but there were parts I wouldn't mind reviting. Let's face it, any horror depends on your own personal thresholds. Some of the other people there came out in tears or a little shaken up. So it definitely did its job.

My final verdict; I recommend BLACKOUT to anyone and everyone. It is an experience like no other and whether you like it or not, it may make you a stronger person. It is selling out fast due to strong word of mouth so get your tickets quick. It's definitely worth the time.
