News On THE RING 3 - Plus Blumhouse Productions Make A Huge Deal!

The idea of if you watch a certain cursed video tape that a creepy long haired ghost girl will come after you to take your life is quite unsettling. 2002 saw the release of THE RING and with it's success it spawned a sequel in 2005 titled THE RING TWO. Now a third film in the series is currently in development.

With the film's development comes the news that Paramount Pictures has selected a director in F. Javier Gutierrez who is known for his movie BEFORE THE FALL. Currently being referred to as THE RING 3, it is unknown if Naomi Watts will be returning to reprise her role as Rachel for the third installment.

Currently there are no details for the plot to make mention of but we will continue to keep you updated. Director F. Javier Gutierrez is also attached to THE CROW reboot.

In other Horror news, Jason Blum should have a giant smile on his face as his company Blumhouse Productions has landed a huge deal. So that they can continue making and distributing solid Horror films with low budgets, Blumhouse and Universal have signed a ten year extension which will include both film and television. It has also come to light that one of the Blumhouse franchises has switched studios.

The SINISTER franchise will be joining INSIDIOUS and THE PURGE as it has made the move from Summit over to Universal's Focus Features. The switch over comes as part of the new ten year extension deal that was signed. Universal Television and Universal Cable Productions are also included in the first look production agreement.

Jeff Shell, who is Universal chief recently had this to say about the new agreement:

“This studio has had an incredible experience working with Blumhouse and it only makes sense to broaden that partnership to NBC Universal’s broadcast and cable networks.”

We can expect to see some sequels from Blumhouse in their already known franchises plus new films like the upcoming OUIJA but with the deal covering film and television it will be interesting to see what Blumhouse will do with the TV aspect.

SINISTER 2 is set to begin filming in August and will directed by Ciaran Foy.
