Update On The New FRIDAY THE 13TH Film Within!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

Another FRIDAY THE 13TH movie has been being talked about since 2009's release of the reboot. Bringing Jason Voorhees back to screens across the world is much more difficult than originally planned. Fans around the world are exited for another installment.

Platinum Dunes have been developing the new FRIDAY THE 13TH film at Paramount for almost three years now. Near the end of last year it was announced that director David Bruckner was no longer attached to the project and that Paramount had decided to go in a fresh direction, with a new writer in Aaron Guzikowski coming on board to get things re-going.

FRIDAY THE 13TH producer Brad Fuller recently spoke to This Is Infamous offering an update on the status of the new film saying that Guzikowski is a better writer than they deserve for a FRIDAY THE 13TH movie, adding that he has turned in a really great draft with Paramount and Platinum Dunes very pleased. Revisions to the script are being worked on now.

Quite some time ago, certain people involved in the project were wanting the new FRIDAY THE 13TH film to be done in the found footage style. Fuller says that part of the delay was him dragging his feet on everything during those days as he knew that found footage was not the way to go. Now that those people who were pushing for that to happen have left the situation, Fuller feels that things are now moving in the right direction.

Whether or not things move along quickly enough to make the January 13, 2017 release date that is currently set by Paramount is unknown, but it is very unlikely. Expect a 2017 release though as Paramount has only obtained the rights from Warner Bros. for five years which will be ending in 2018.

Here is video footage of Fuller talking about the new FRIDAY THE 13TH movie.
