Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
After having spent many years in silence, it looks as if the SAW franchise is wasting no time in getting its latest entry ready to go. We recently reported the news of the project entitled SAW: LEGACY preparing for filming to begin this September in Toronto. While the news came from a Canadian production listing, this effectively confirmed a report from earlier this year that Lionsgate was developing SAW: LEGACY.
We also learned that Lionsgate had hired the team of Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger to pen the script for SAW: LEGACY. In addition to that, Saw franchise creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell are also on-board as executive producers.
Now thanks to yet another production listing, it looks as though the directors for SAW: LEGACY have been found. The listing names Michael and Peter Spierig as the ones who will be directing. The Australian sibling duo are known for their 2003 Horror/comedy UNDEAD, the 2009 vampire film DAYBREAKERS, as well as the time travel thriller PREDESTINATION.
Lionsgate handled the U.S. release of UNDEAD and then teamed up with the brotherly duo for DAYBREAKERS. Years ago the Spierig's worked with SAW co-creator Leigh Whannell on a sci-fi project called STEM, which has yet to take off.
Filming for SAW: LEGACY will take place in Toronto from September 12th until October 21, 2016. The movie has a current release date of Oct. 27, 2017.
We will continue to bring you more on this story as we hear it.
