Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
CURSE OF CHUCKY hit the scene back in 2013 and was mostly well received by fans. The film was a rebirth to classic franchise opening up the door of possibilities. With the sequel now moving along full steam ahead, it looks we all will be in for a real treat by Halloween time.
The upcoming sequel, titled CULT OF CHUCKY, has been building some grand momentum within the Horror community as fans are eager to see what Chucky has in store for them next as he wreaks havoc within an asylum.
CULT OF CHUCKY is now in post-production but that did not stop the writer/director of the film Don Mancini, stars Jennifer Tilly and Fiona Dourif, or special FX artist on the film Tony Gardner, from attending Monsterpalooza convention in Pasedena California this past weekend. B-D was able to speak with Mancini about the new film as he said:
“Chucky is such a versatile character that you can plug him into different sub genres. This one is the mind-f*ck, Chucky meets INCEPTION because you’re dealing with a bunch of characters whose perception reality is altered by their madness, the drugs that they're on, and by hypnosis."
He then revealed that CULT OF CHUCKY will contain more gore than any other film in the series:
“The gore effects in this movie... this is definitely the goriest of all of the movies. [This] wasn't something [we] set out to do, it just sort of turned out that way."
Mancini went on to make it clear that the doll’s appearance in this film will be much closer to the classic Chucky look.
CULT OF CHUCKY will follow Fiona Dourif's character Nica Pierce from the previous film CURSE OF CHUCKY as she is:
"at an asylum for the criminally insane where she has been confined for the past four years and is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when Nica's psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic "tool" to facilitate his patients' group sessions — an all-too-familiar "Good Guy" doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn't crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Vincent), Chucky's now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child's Play, races to Nica's aid. But to save her he'll have to get past Tiffany (Tilly), Chucky's long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll."
CULT OF CHUCKY stars Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce, Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany, Summer H. Howell as Alice, Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay, and Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky. Newcomer Grace Lynn Kung joins in on the fun as the "hard-edged" Claire.
Mancini writes, directs, and serves as executive producer on CULT OF CHUCKY which is being produced by David Kirschner and Ogden Gavanski. Leading the special effects team as well as associate producing is Tony Gardner. Michael Marshall is the director of photography, Craig Sandells is the production designer and Patricia J. Henderson is the costume designer.
CULT OF CHUCKY will be getting an unrated release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD this Fall.
