Update On THE CRAFT Reboot Within!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

The 1996 film THE CRAFT starred Robin Tunney as a new arrival at Catholic school St Benedict’s Academy who befriends a group of girls (Neve Campbell, Fairuza Balk and Rachel True) who all turn out to be witches. It was just around one year ago that we learned that a remake for THE CRAFT was in the works with Leigh Janiak slated to co-write the project along with Phil Graziadei. Janiak was also announced to direct. Today we bring you an update on things.

The project is still moving forward but things have changed. Deadline reports that Zoe Lister-Jones will write and direct THE CRAFT reboot, which is now in the works at Blumhouse and Columbia Pictures.

Jason Blum of Blumhouse and Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher of Red Wagon Entertainment will produce THE CRAFT reboot, with the original film's director and co-writer, Andrew Fleming, on board as an executive producer along with Red Wagon Entertainment's Lucas Wiesendanger.

Wick previously said that those involved with Janiak's concept are not calling it a remake, but a sequel rather since the story is actually set twenty years after the events of THE CRAFT.

"There will be callbacks to the original movie, so you will see there is a connection between what happened in the days of The Craft, and how these young women come across this magic many years later."

He added:

"Here are some young women who once again discover the power of magic, and we explore their emotional lives, their wants, their fears, their longings, as they become empowered."

We will continue to follow THE CRAFT as it unfolds.
