Over the years, HELLRAISER fans have had a difficult time waiting for an entry that really stood out and wasn't straight to DVD. HELLRAISER: JUDGMENT stood levels above REVELATIONS, it still lacked that special something that past films could capture.

Years ago, Clive Barker himself was charged with penning a reboot, but nothing ever came of that.

Now we have learned that David S. Goyer is going to produce and write a “loyal, yet evolved reimagining” of HELLRAISER.

Variety is reporting that Gary Barber’s Spyglass Media Group will "fast track the film for worldwide theatrical distribution" with Keith Levein on board as a producer as well.

No word if Barker will be involved but Goyer and Barker have a past relationship:

“Clive and I go back more than 30 years together. For generations, his brilliantly twisted and imaginative ‘Hellraiser’ haunted the minds of moviegoers with its searing imagery of Pinhead. David is the perfect storyteller to continue Clive’s vision for a new theatrical version of ‘Hellraiser.’ ”
