Just a couple of months ago Horror fans found out the news that Chris Rock was executive producing a new SAW movie, and now that production rolling along for the film, we have learned that Rock will also star in the new movie along with Samuel L. Jackson.
That's right, Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson in a new SAW film which will be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman. The screenplay was penned by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg, the same duo that wrote 2017's JIGSAW.
Rock will be taking on the role of a police detective investigating a series of grisly crimes. Samuel Jackson's character will be the father of Rock's character.
Other additions to the cast are Max Minghella as William Schenk, the partner of Rock's character, and Marisol Nichols as Capt. Angie Garza, the boss of Rock's character.
Joe Drake, chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, told THR:
"We think Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock along with Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols make this film completely special in the Saw canon and we can’t wait to unleash this unexpected and sinister new story on fans of this franchise. This is next level of Saw on full tilt."
As of now there is no word if Tobin Bell will return to reprise his role as John Kramer. We will continue to keep you updated as we hear it.
Considered a "reimagining of the series," the new SAW film is slated for an October 23rd, 2020 release from Lionsgate.
