Forums Horror Collectibles
I am working on a new project.

I am building a complete board game right now. It's from a movie, but nobody has ever made a game from it and I don't know if I am able to copyright it if it is based off of the move. Is it posble to have the game Idea and board copyrighted due to it never being made without having to go through the owner of the movie copyright?

I know this game will sell BIG. I want to get it copyrighted and then sell my rights off to a mass produced game company so that everyone can own one of these!

Any ideas here???

Thanks Guys!

Jumanji

clasc.

Seriously if he doesn't see the thread I'd shoot a PM over to Yukon Lee.

I'm sure an actual attorney could give you some pointers.

My guess is that you would have to go through the copyright holder of the original movie.

I once tried to make a custom Myers shirt at one of the online shirt places and was told that even though the idea was original that the likeness of the character was a copyrighted image and couldn't be used without "express written consent", sort of like the NFL warning lol.

Matt makes an excellent point Ryan...shoot me an email with what you're thinking of doing and I'll let you know what issues you need to deal with.
