The Strangers (some spoilers)

Ok, just got back from the Midnight showing.

My spoilers are marked at the end so feel safe reading till that point.

Very Creepy movie.

I really don't want to give anything away but . . .. Over all I liked it.

Did a great job with the setting, out in the woods/country miles away where no one could help you . .. so just running out the front door for help won't do you much good.

The Masks are really creepy also, especially the look of the man/stranger (had memories of Jason part 2).

Oh, the first time they answer the front door . . . man I was getting chills.

Any downers? Liv Tyler did an ok job.

I can think of better female leads but she did fine.

I thought there was a part that kind of dragged (the whole Liv crawling around thing) but bedes that the story moved along nicely.

The Ending . . . well, good and ok.

I liked the climax of the movie because it did something MOST horror movies don't do (and I can't tell you).

But then the resolution is ok but kind of stereotypical of horror movie endings as of lately. (MAJOR SPOILERS: Highlight to read) I LOVED how they didn't ever show the faces of the killers and didn't explain anything about them or why they were doing what they did.

Most movies always feel they have to explain everything . . .luckily they let the imagination do the rest . . . LOVED THIS

Still over all I think it was pretty original (not nearly close to VACANCY as the critics claimed it was).

I gives it a Knives up! (or 7 out of 10)

Sounds pretty good Fenner, not as excited to see it now but still would like to check it out.

Saw it tonight, and I was happy. Although the "home invaon" concept is nothing new, i thought the build up of suspense was a welcome relief from all the torture porn movies that are all over the place these days. Sold out theater, which menat alot of people getting scared. Especially the ladies.

Highly recommended.

Looks like we are in luck, it's been announced officially that they are planning the sequel!

I liked it alot...I'd definately want to see a sequal.

I liked this one a lot. i thought it was exactly what the trailers represented for once. Just what I expected it to be. It was very suspenseful and had a few really good shock moments. I thought the acting was great and the masks were very well done. The only gripe I have with anything I have been reading all over town about this was that "they dont explain who the invaders are" If anyone didnt get what was going on feel free to ask because I thought it was explained very well what was going on.

The first half hour was good, but then it just became so trite and predictable that I lost all interest.

I found "Ils" (aka "Them") much more creepy, and I watched that one last year.

I will actually go out on a limb and semi agree with you Alan. While it was an entertaining movie it didn't bother me as much as I had hoped. I have had a reoccurring dream about people breaking into my house for years and years and I was somewhat squeamish to actually watch this film. And again while a good entertaining film it didn't ever strike that fear in me that I thought it was capable of.

I have had a reoccurring dream about people breaking into my house for years and years and I was somewhat squeamish actually watching this film. And again while a good entertaining film it didn't ever strike that fear in me that I thought it was capable of.Ils did that for me!

Another film that creeped me out as a kid was "Last House on Dead End Street".

I have an original one-sheet hanging in my office from that film!

I prefer the seedy underbelly of cinema when it comes to real scares

The beginning was good and intense however I found myself very bored and very disappointed by the end.

I expected way more from this movie than what was delivered.

it was a decent movie and from the looks of it they could ealy make a sequel. i too thought it was a little predictable in the end.

One of the scariest things for me is the door bell or phone ringing like at 3am...you know it cant mean anything good. So the concept of the film was a good one. We all know you have to suspend disbelief in movies but come on. This movie had holes in it big enough for Joe Grizzly to drive his truck thru. Two young girls and a weezing limping guy? and the dude had a shot gun with endless amo? come on. The second time that little beatch would have knocked on my door i would have smacked her and dragged her in my house and called the cops. Some decent moments but overall stupid. Better than the lot of mainstream horrors over the past few years but WAAAAy over rated imo. Rent/buy "THEM" instead.

I still love this movie (some are saying it's the pioneer in a new horror sub-genre called "Terror Film" but time will tell).

Still, I thought the part where she crawls out to the barn and tries to radio for help was a complete waste.

If you cut that whole part out and shorten the movie by 15 minutes the pacing would have been much better.

That part really dragged out for me . . .

Very true!! It definitely was a different concept and the movie definitely had it's great moments!

Dude, I totally agree with you there.

I have always been so freaked out about somebody coming into my home and killing me... It's been a deep seated fear nce childhood, probably from too many horror movies.. But, this movie had potential to freak me out on many levels.. just didn't do it for me.

I still enjoyed it and it was moderately original, but there were things that bothered me about it.

One thing, when Liv charges her phone and starts walking around... WTF??

My phone, if I plug it in.. is ready to call in less than a minute, I would have sat there and waited.

Once it was charged, I would have IMMEDIATELY called 911...and then my Wife.

Not vice versa, and no way in Hell would I have walked around aimlessly.

And WTF was up with the sliding glass door?

With that loud knocking early in the film, I would have checked every ngle entry point and done everything posble to ensure they were locked and secure.But it wouldn't be horror without some idiotic mistakes fromt the "cattle" characters.

I own this movie and I STILL HAVENT WATCHED IT.....
