Peter Jackson Hospitalized, The Hobbit Gets Delayed Again!

Oh, Hobbit, will we ever see you on the big screen one of these days? That answer is Oh sure, but when is another matter. After surviving a slew of delays, problems, and legal entanglements, “The Hobbit” would seem to be well on its way to making oodles of bucks with Peter Jackson back behind the camera for the two-parter. Production was even slated to begin sometime next month. That is, until Peter Jackson ended up in the hospital for surgery. The culprit? A perforated ulcer.

MTV has your news:

Filming ,,, will be delayed as Jackson, who was admitted to New Zealand’s Wellington Hospital after experiencing acute stomach pains, heals from the surgery. According to Entertainment Weekly, a New Line Cinema rep confirmed that the director “is resting comfortably and doctors expect a full recovery.”

The statement from production also assured that Jackson’s “surgery is not expected to impact on his directing commitment to ‘The Hobbit’ beyond a slight delay to the start of filming.”

No wonder Jackson was trying his best to avoid having to direct both “Hobbit” movies. Shooting the films would have been a masve undertaking, and from his time shooting the last three “Lord of the Rings” films, he must have realized the amount of stress he was going to be under.

I wish him a speedy and complete recovery so he can dazzle us all again with another tale of Middle Earth.
