Out of that list I chose Saw. But there are several on there that I have not seen so that could change. Of the ones that i have seen Saw is the best. It is too bad that they made a few too many sequels of that and diluted it. But the original film will always be great in my eyes. This is a great poll. Thanks for posting.

Very cool poll and TOUGH!

High Tenon with Trick 'R Treat a close second!

Shakelford, J. Rusty Wednesday 2/02/2011 at 06:29 AM | 71251
Tough choices, IMO some great movies listed, I usually don't like picking just one.
The Cryptkeeper Wednesday 2/02/2011 at 03:34 PM | 71259
How tough is this list???

I wanted to go with High Tenon because I truly loved that film. It really made me uneasy which is tough to do this day in age.

I am an avid Devil's Rejects fan also because I love the gritty, TCM, 1970's vibe.

But ultimately I love Halloween the holiday and TRICK 'R TREAT won over in the end. I can't not watch that movie in October and it not getting a theatrical release still haunts me today. I loved that film. That is my choice but man was that tough! Ouch!

HBIDFAN4LIFE Wednesday 2/02/2011 at 07:17 PM | 71279
For me it's definitely SAW :)
SAWfreak Wednesday 2/02/2011 at 07:49 PM | 71281
alright, someone needs to confess, who picked paranormal activity?
Shakelford, J. Rusty Thursday 2/03/2011 at 05:07 AM | 71317
The Devils Rejects. No question.
Don of the Dead Thursday 2/03/2011 at 01:38 PM | 71327
I went with Trick 'R Treat but must say this was alot harder then I expected as House and Devils were great along with Saw and I do agree Hatchey would have been another great choice to have.

I vote The Devils Rejects by far.....

A) because I LOVE the film, its close to perfect.

and

B) Im factoring in the affect the film has had on horror, and out of all of those listed films, The Devils Rejects has the greatest mythos around it; the Firefly clan has reached icon status and the mark of the Rejects is felt everywhere....from conventions, to comics, to muc, to a 70's resurgence. Many of the other films are great but won't be remembered 25 years from now. I love TrickRTreat as well, but I think it will appreciate more over time.

Evan you will get no argument from me on that either! You actually made me partially wish I could go back and change my answer. It was def down to TRICK 'R TREAT and THE DEVIL'S REJECTS. I think I was more disappointed with TRICK 'R TREAT getting the theatrical shaft that I went with the underdog. Plus I can still watch that movie in amazement on how they tied and interweaved the stores so perfectly together. I wish it would have became a franchise every year ala SAW because they could have done sooooo much with it. But oh well, I still have it it watch every October and that is mply a film I will not miss!

PS I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!!!!!

Trick R Treat was amazing, and i DO think as years pass it will become more and more of a cult film. Its sad though that the film really only has become beloved by those of us who grew up in the 70's, 80's and early 90's. Same with the Rejects....these films can't hold a candle to the box office returns of films like SAW or other tailor made horror films that feature the latest WB starlet. The studios arent dumb, just money hungry. They know which films will pay them dividends and movies like Trick R Treat just dont do it. Rejects has RZ's name connected so thats worth something to an extent but it still wasnt a huge draw.

I think us older guys grew up with a different style of horror, even the gore fests were cerebral. Can you imagine TCM or Maniac if they had FIRST been made now?

anyway, killer thread......i must admit Im surprised REC is coming in second!

I picked Devil Rejects. It was a tough call too. I love Trick R Treat but Rejects I just feel is a better film.

Im not trying to be a hater but trick r treat the best movie of the last 10 years? Dont get me wrong it was a good movie but i really dont think it was the best. But then again i guess i could see it being the best out of the 20 up there, except the devils rejects.
MiLeSx13x Monday 2/07/2011 at 05:25 PM | 71506
Newbie here. Hands down for me is "Let the Right One In". Not just horror but overall for me. That movie is fricken brilliant on so many levels. Martyrs is definately up there for me. High Tenon, The Devil's Rejects and Saw

were great too. Trick R Treat was good but it would be at least halfway down that list for me.
etrigan69 Wednesday 2/09/2011 at 02:06 AM | 71619
That's a pretty decent list. Overall I'd say Trick r Treat is the best but I gave my vote to House of 1000 corpses because that's the film that truly captured the feel of 80's horror for me. I knew during the first Captain Spaulding scene that I loved the movie.

Captain Howdy Wednesday 2/09/2011 at 02:25 PM | 71639
martyrs!! that movie was freekin brutal.

I feel that "THE STRANGERS" starring Liv Tyler in 07 was by far the scariest horror film I have seen of the past 10 years.
Tomastina Saturday 2/12/2011 at 03:02 AM | 71814
I would have put Jeepers Creepers, Laid to Rest, and The Collector somewhere in there.
