1978 - The Best Year Ever For Horror?

I think most of us can agree on one thing...the 80s is ealy the best decade for horror. But try to pick out a ngle year that you think horror was at its strongest. Many would argue that 1978 is the best year because of halloween. Well i challenge you to come up with just one year that you think was the best for horror. It took awhile but i have to choose 1984, horror was in its prime, it birthed one of the greatest franchises ever (A Nightmare On Elm Street), and tried to kill another great franchise (Friday the 13th part 4), but u just cant keep Jason buried for to long. And you cant forget Gremlins. 84 was a strong year indeed, what do you guys think?

1978 was a great year indeed and could be my favorite for spawning two of the greatest horror flicks of all time.

Halloween, Dawn of The Dead, Bodysnatches remake, and Piranha were all released in 78.Sure 78 was great but lets not forget 79 or 80.

79- Alien, Amityville Horror, Attack of The Killer Tomatos , The Brood, The Changeling, Nosferatu The Vampyre, Phantasm, Salems Lot, and Zombi

80- Cannibal Holocaust(not a fan personally but strong cult fallowing), Friday The 13th, The Shining, The Fog, Dressed To Kill, The Gates of Hell, Inferno, Motel Hell, Maniac, and Prom Night

Great thread MilesI'm very curious to read what people have to say. It is a tough question nce the 70's and early 80's both spawned some of the greatest horror flicks of all time.
