Donald Sutherland Joins The Cast of THE HUNGER GAMES
The key role of Predent Snow has been announced today in Lionsgate’s mega adaptation of Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games. Sutherland joins the ranks today, alongde Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson.
The character of Predent Snow is described as being “cruel and ruthless in his intimidation and control tactics."He currently rules the new world known as Panem, and all of it's contained districts for the past 25-plus years. He and Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence), the District 12 representative, have a seemingly belligerent relationship.
Plot Synops:
The Hunger Games follows Katniss Everdeen, a xteen year old girl who lives in a post apocalyptic world. North America is no more, it has become a collapsed nation which has been displaced by Panem, a country that is divided into 12 districts. Each year, two young representatives are selected from each district via a lottery (one boy and one girl). The 24 winners then get to participate in The Hunger Games, which is an annual tournament run by a powerful government that operates in the central part of Panem, known as The Capital. The games are a brutal form of entertainment and they are broadcast throughout Panem. Each contestant must try to "eliminate" their competitors, or risk being "eliminated" themselves.
The Hunger Games is slated for a March 23, 2012 release.
