Are You Ready To 'ATTACK THE BLOCK' This July?

With the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con soon upon us this July, it's only fitting that we get us a taste of some real alien ass-kicking via the big screen, in order to finish off the month with a bang!

Sony's Screen Gems made an announcement earlier today, informing us that the London based flick will debut here in the States on July 29, 2011. That's just in time to compete with DreamWorks' Cowboys & Aliens, as well as Sony's The Smurfs, which also debut on that day.

Attack the Block is a sci-fi/horror flick brought to us from Joe Cornish, in what marks his directional debut. The film pits a group of kids from the projects of south London against an all out alien invaon.

Plot Synops:

Set on a council estate in South London on Bonfire night, the film follows a street gang, Moses (John Boyega), Pest (Alex Esmail), Dennis (Franz Drameh), Jerome (Leeon Jones) and Biggz (mon Howard). While they are mugging nurse Sam (Jodie Whittaker), a fiery object falls from the sky, crashing through the roof of a nearby car. When they investigate, they discover a creature from the meteor and they kill it. Soon more aliens crash land and the gang has to defend themselves and their council estate from the alien invaders.

Attack of the Block also co-stars Nick Frost, who was made famous for his role as "Ed" in Shaun of the Dead. The film, which first debuted in the UK on May 13, 2011, currently holds a 89% "fresh" review score on Rotten Tomatoes.com
