Who better than us (probably dozens of other quality tes), right here at HorrorBid, are qualified to start discusng HALLOWEEN 3D now that after weeks of speculation the film indeed does have a locked in release date for October 26th, 2012. Take all of the rumors and and mess of the last few weeks and put them to bed. We knew the film was an official go and regardless of whether you heard it first or not is no longer the point. The film is going to happen and has the slasher crowd and horror fans in general buzzing about what the plot for H3D might be.
In all accounts what we know is that direction Patrick Luser and Todd Farmer will be behind the scenes crafting the film into what they have said to be a film that picks up after Rob Zombie HALLOWEEN 2 and quickly takes the series back to "John Carpenter's roots".
What that exactly means is unknown but it has fans stirring and not surpringly wondering what will happen to the infamous "white mask" made famous by the latex masked used in the original HALLOWEEN from 1978 that was a converted Don Post "Captain Kirk" mask that was produced by the legendary mask company in 1975.
While plot details are unknown the bigger question for many Bidites out there and collectors alike is what will the mask look like in H3D. As any HALLOWEEN fan will admit, Michael Myers without the mask is as unimaginable as Jason Voorhees without his hock or Freddy Kruger without his razor glove. The one small problem is, at the end of Zombie's H2 regardless of what exactly happened to Michael Myers, the mask is nearly completely rotten to the core and falling apart. Will the film-makers stay with that look or will Mike be looking for a new mask to cover his years of needing to remain hidden from societies judging eyes?
Lets face it. In past HALLOWEEN movies the mask has changed as much as the story-lines themselves so having Myers pick up a new mask is not out of the question. If the really ground this in reality would it be posble that Mike just so happens to run into someone with a milar "white mask" like in the original or could we see Mike ditch the white mask completely and go for something different? After all, in Zombie's original re-imagining the paper mache orange "pumpkin" mask was a big hit amongst fans but we can't imagine a film that is being touted as going back to "Carpetner's roots" and not seeing Michael Myers returning to Haddonfiled with his trusty piece of white latex in tow.
Obviously we have no idea the direction that the film-makers will eventually take but that is where you Bidites come in. What are your speculations for the third installment in the remade series and what would you like to see? We want to hear your thoughts.Traditional 1978 Michael Myers Mask
