HALEY JOEL OSMENT aka Victor Frankenstein?
Frankenstein seems to be the talk of the town these days in Hollywood. With at least a half-dozen or so Frankenstein-themed projects brewing, it look as if Wake the Dead will be exiting the lab first.
Variety's Justin Kroll had some pretty interesting news regarding a huge casting decion in the film earlier today. According to Kroll, Haley Joel Osment is set to star in the retelling of
Mary Shelley's gothic tale Frankenstein, which is said to be set in the present day. (Yep, you read that correctly...the little boy that saw dead people is now going to be bringing them back from the dead!! )
Jay Russell will helm the horror pic based on the graphic novels by Steven Niles, with Osment playing the role of Victor Frankenstein, a college student experimenting with reverng death. If that wasn't strange enough, we're being told that Guns 'n Roses lead guitarist, Slash will produce the film with Michael Williams and Rob Eric through his production company, Slasher Films.
Other Frankenstein projects that are in development include Summit’s This Dark Endeavor; Universal's untitled Frankenstein flick with Guillermo del Toro and Scott Stuber developing; Lakeshore Entertainment's I, Frankenstein, with Stuart Beattie writing and directing; an adaptation of Peter Ackroyd's novel The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein from Ghost House Pictures and RT Features; and a contemporary take from Columbia Pictures and Matt Tolmach.
