Re-Animator Fans, what is this???

it's obvious that it's Dr. Carl Hill's head from the re-animator film, but does anyone know anything about it? i bought it at a local comic book shop over a year ago. the owner told me it was given to cast members from the first film as a thank you for being in the movie. any more info on this?

From what I've heard it's supposed to an ashtray but I don't know much bedes that. It would be cool if this was owned by a cast member at one time. I've only seen one other of these so maybe.
