New EVIL DEAD Movie Has Found Its Director; Is it a Sequel or a Remake?

Well, things are certainly moving fast on the EVIL DEAD front. Yesterday it was announced that a new EVIL DEAD film was posbly in the works and today we get the announcement that the film has a director. According to Bloody-Disgusting Sam Raimi has hired director Federico Alvarez (PANIC ATTACK) to helm the project which is now fast tracked into pre-production in Detroit, Michigan (coincidentally where Raimi and original star Bruce Campbell are from).

Now the big question everyone is asking, is this film a sequel or a remake? The reason people are confused is because initially it was reported that "long-time Sam Raimi editor Bob Murawski (Army of Darkness; Spider-man, Drag me to Hell) has packed up and headed out to Detroit to begin work on the long talked about fourth entry into the Evil Dead franchise." Soon after that star Bruce Campbell tweeted, "Believe in the remake, dawg! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell!"

So is it a remake or sequel. We are 99.9% sure this will be a remake. When editor Bob Murawski stated fourth film, he was mply referring it to a fourth film in the series much like Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN is refereed to as "Part 9" because it is a continuation of the series no matter how you look at it.

So big news today about the presumed remake of EVIL DEAD and its new director. We want to hear your thoughts. Is this good news or bad news genre buffs?

I'll see it! If Bruce says it's good, it's good!
