EXCLUSIVE: Adam Sotelo Talks About His Indie Flick PERSEVERATION

There's been a recent emergence of potive noise surrounding independent filmmaker Adam Sotelo's

Perseveration. Adam was gracious enough to take some time out of the daily grind to shed a little light on the subject of his first film, as well as answer a few of our questions.

Writer/Director of Perseveration - Adam Sotelo

HB: Hi Adam, let's start by telling us a little bit about yourself.

Adam: Well, I'm 21 years old, from North Jersey, barely made it out of high school, and I love horror movies.

HB: When did you first come up with the idea for your film?Adam: I came up with the idea for the movie about a year or two ago, never really got a chance to write the script for the movie until about a few months ago. Even now that the script is complete, I'm always coming up with new ideas.

HB: On a lighter note, am I the only one that you encountered that has trouble pronouncing the title?

Adam: EVERYONE PRONOUNCES IT WRONG! Its kind of funny actually. I have so many people asking me how to say it, and spell it... It's pronounced "Per-sev-er-a-tion."

HB: Here's the big question - What the heck is 'Perseveration' exactly about?

Adam: Perseveration is my view on religion and what people would do just to get their point across. I read in the paper once that a family kept their daughter in a cage because she didnt believe in Jesus. It really got me thinking about the way religion can negatively effect us too. You're going to see what the main character had to go through in his life and what religion does to the mind after so many years of

being brainwashed into believing one thing. Being isolated from the world can take its toll on the human mind.

HB: After watching the teaser, the movie 'Hostel' instantly comes to mind - Do you conder your film to be 'torture porn'?

Adam: I don't really know...I'm a big fan of that stuff so if the fans want to conder it torture porn, then that's fine with me.

HB: Thus far there has been a lot of potive feedback from fans who are anticipating 'Perseveration' - can we expect a release in the near future?

Adam: Definitely. Maybe in a few months or so. We don't have a specific date yet because the movie isn't finished yet. We recently lost our shooting location, and myself and a few crew members are paying for everything out of our own pockets so it's been a little rough on us.

HB: With that being said, how do you plan on distributing your film?

Adam: Through Hellsgate pictures. Its a movie company that I'm building from the ground up.You'll be able to get the DVD, t-shirts, and other Perseveration and Hellsgate Pictures merchandise on our webte which is currently under construction.

HB: Anything else that you might like to add?

Adam: I really appreciate everyone backing me up on my first film. I'm making this movie for the "gore hounds", from the opening scene to the credits its going to shock, disgust, and disturb you. And also, check us out on Facebook at:
