Not So 'Fast'...Director Justin Lin Forced To Exit The Terminator

Just when it looked like things were starting to move in the right direction for The Terminator franchise, a new plan by rights owner Megan Ellison and Arnold Schwarzenegger has forced director Justin Lin to exit the project, at least temporarily.

According to Deadline, the idea was to put the first of two Terminator films in production by the fourth quarter of next year, but Lin won't be available due to his commitment with the upcoming installment from The Fast and the Furious franchise.

The director has been working closely with Schwarzenegger and Ellison to figure a way to make this movie happen, but it will require some effort for Ellison to get the film underway by late next year. With the lack of a studio partner attached to the project and the absence of a screenwriter or a script, things will need to move more quickly if she wants the movie wants to get made. Lin did say "I'll be back," when asked if he would still be interested in directing the film, but he did add - only if Ellison and Schwarzenegger will wait until he completes the xth installment of The Fast and the Furious.
