New Lines Picks Up "The Orphanage" For A Remake

New Line Cinema bought the rights to produce an English-language remake of The Orphanage. The original was only released a few years ago. The plot was about a woman who returns to her childhood home, an orphanage. She plans to turn the house into a home for disabled children, but a problem arises when she realize that her son believes he has a imaginary friend named Tomás with whom he will run away. On remakes, director Juan Antonio Bayona(director of the original Spanish veron) noted that "The Americans have all the money in the world but can't do anything, while we can do whatever we want but don't have the money" and "The American industry doesn't take chances, that's why they make remake movies that were already big hits". Guillermo del Toro (who produced the original Spanish veron) is producing and has co-written the script with Larry Fessenden who is directing the film. According to IMDB, the remake is set to be released in 2013.
