These two flicks are clearly the most anticipated horror releases in years. Two reboots/re-imaginings/remakes of two of the greatest films in history, Ridley Scott's Alien and John Carpenter’s The Thing. Which do you predict will flourish at the box office, and which, if either, do you feel stands a fair chance of taking a nosedive.
While Prometheus, the planned prequel to the almighty Alien, isn’t scheduled to hit theaters until June of next year, The Thing will overtake theaters in a matter of weeks.
Both films borrow their foundation from established greatness, and should either feature lose hold of that factor at any point, we could be in for some nauseating work. That said, I’m excited (and I'm not often pumped for remakes) for both of these pictures, and I believe that both projects contain a wealth of talent behind the cameras as well as in front of. The only question is, will that talent translate as needed?
So, for your money, if you absolutely had to bank on one of these films underperforming, which would you choose, Prometheus or The Thing?
