'Shattered Hopes: The True Story Behind The Amityville Murders' Shows Off Some New Artwork

One film that we haven't really talked about too much is Ryan Katzenbach's documentary entitled Shattered Hopes: The True Story Behind The Amityville Murders.

The film, which was 10 years in the making, began shooting in 2006. Shattered Hopes takes a look at the DeFeo murders that inspired 1979 film The Amityville Horror.

Katzenbach understands Hollywood's dere to rehash films, but he's convinced that they no longer know how to put out a decent product, something that he's convinced

he can accomplish. "I knew, like James Cameron, when he did 'Titanic' in 1997 that if you were going to take on a subject that had already been done, then you had better have something new to say or, otherwise, what is the point?" Uttered Katzenbach. "Amityville has been done repeatedly, but I felt like we could go the extra mile in terms of the research as well as visually. The approach, like 'Titanic', was to really plant the viewer back in time and make the experience as viscereal as posble."

Once the film is completed the film will clock in around the 4 hours mark, and divided into two portions.

We'll keep you posted with more news regarding the film. Until then, dig on the new poster artwork as well as a lengthy promo for the film.
