Troma's Class of Nuke 'Em High and Poultrygeist May Receive The Remake Makeover

Ah, who doesn't love a good Troma film from time to time? I mean whats not to love? You've got highly offenve mindless violence mixed with ridiculous characters and just the right amount of cheese poured into every film in the Troma catalog which const of 800+ titles. All and all it adds up to hours upon hours of pure visual bliss.

But could these same movies flourish in today's market? Perhaps with the right set of filmmaker involved, and a bigger budget the sky could be the limit. And that seems to be Lloyd Kaufman's general idea, as it's now being rumored that two more of Tromas staples may be receiving a full facelift in the future.

Here's the official word from that guys over at Tomaville:

Greetings from Tromaville! Troma Entertainment's theatrical clascs, Class of Nuke 'Em High and Poultrygeist, are now in negotiation to be remade as mainstream, big-budget productions, following deals for the remake of The Toxic Avenger, which will be produced by Akiva Goldsman and directed by Steven Pink (Hot Tub Time Machine), and Troma's Mother's Day, which has just been remade by Darren Lynn Bousman (11-11-11, Saw II,III,IV).

The original Class of Nuke 'Em High, directed by Richard W. Haines and Troma Predent Lloyd Kaufman in 1986, tells how a radioactive leak in the Tromaville Nuclear Plant contaminates the marijuana consumed by the students in Tromaville High School. It sold about 500,000 copies just in the US, becoming a cult hit nearly as successful as Troma clascs The Toxic Avenger and Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D.

Originally released in 2006, Poultrygeist follows Arbie, a young man trying to win back his ex-girlfriend Wendy by getting a job at the same New Jersey fried chicken fast-food restaurant where she works. Unbeknownst to Arbie and the other employees, however, the restaurant is located on sacred Indian burial grounds, which brings hordes of demonic chickens to attack everyone in the vicinity.
