Upcoming American Giallo Film 'A Flash Of The Blade' Makes Bold Claims

Giallo films, put on the map by Italian horror legend Dario Argento, have a wide and loyal cult following. Director Scott Symons is declaring that his newest project will be the next Deep Red, a claim which will either make or break his namesake in the industry.

Symon acknowledges being influenced strongly by Argento as well as Bava and Fulci, and we can hope that this is apparent in his upcoming film, A Flash Of The Blade. Set to begin production on December 13, 2011, A Flash Of The Blade already has some big names attached to it. The film will be shot in high definition by Emmy Award winning director of photography Scott Spears, and features John Steiner (Tenebrae, Shock) in a supporting role.

The story follows an antisocial suicidal alcoholic who witnesses the murder of an investigative reporter asgned to a serial killer case. Obsessed with the crime, the protagonist begins his own independent investigation. He soon finds eerie milarities between himself and the serial killer, and finds himself in a sticky tuation when the murderer catches on.

Let's try to put some faith in Symons and hope he's not biting off more than he can chew with his large, risky claim.
