Under Your Skin: What Movie Do You Hate?

Recently I wrote an article defending Rob Zombie’s Halloween II, a movie many in the horror community love to hate, and it got me to thinking: “What movie(s) do horror fans absolutely loathe?” What gets under your skin and really pisses you off? In a response post to a well-known Horrorbid contributor’s comments regarding my Halloween II article, I named the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” remake as a movie that I hate, but that’s not entirely true. While I did leave the theatre feeling somewhat disappointed in this little film’s wasted potential, I have nce re-watched it on DVD and can honestly say I don’t hate the movie, not by a long shot.

I do, however, despise, detest, loathe, hate, can’t stand, am repulsed by Feast II: Sloppy Seconds, which is exactly what this vulgar and tasteless film is…a sloppy second installment to a cleverly witty, often gross, but overall entertaining first effort by John Gulager.

Need I remind you, fellow Bidites, that this is my humble opinion? It’s not right or wrong, just my personal reflections on a movie that never should have molested my poor DVD player. May it rest in pieces.

Feast II was made with (probably) half the budget of the first movie and it really shows. We have more characters, none of which really possess the charm of the crew from the first…and less beast action. Perhaps the only memorable scenes I got out of this giant pile of troll shit are the copious vomiting following a totally unnecessary monster autopsy, and a nasty little dream sequence involving blue Jell-O?

Sheesh! Anyways, what I wanna know is: “What movie(s) piss you right the fuck off? What do you absolutely, potively cannot stand?”

And Matt, there’s gotta be something you hate more than Rob Zombie’s Halloween II. LOL!!! Let me know. How about Halloween: Resurrection? Rick Rosenthal…for shame!!!

And when I can figure out how to upload some pics, I'll include those with my future articles.

Uploading pics is fairly easy. If they're on your machine, you'll need to use an image hosting te such as PhotoBucket or something milar - Which case you upload the photo to there, get the URL of your photo and insert it between the BBC Code IMG tags. If you use the Full Editor when posting, all you have to do is press the Img button and paste the link right there. If the image is from a misc. source from the net, use the above method with the Img button.

Oh, guess I should participate. What movie(s) do I hate? Any movie with Nicholas FUCKING Cage!!!! The only movie I liked him in was The Wicker Man remake. Fitting ending for him.

Easy.

For me there are two... Hostel and Botched.

I don't just want my money or life back.

I want the life of every tree chopped down to print the scripts restored to the environment and the filmakers sterilized.

Hostel: I want horror not porn and Paranormal activity: if drinking 3 mountain dews could not wake me up to finish this movie nothing will.

I'm sure I will think of more later but one film that really disappointed me recently was Scream 4! Really bad soundtrack, the kills were ruined by cheep lines "Fuck you Bruce Willis" comes to mind and the ending was so safe it just annoyed the hell out of me. Not to mention the fact that the reveal of the killer(s) made no sense! How does Ghostface change height and muscle mass all of a sudden? There are plenty of other reasons but those come to mind at the moment.

White Out was another film that was bad, the only difference was that I had no prior knowledge of the film and saw it for free and plus I got to catch up on some sleep!

Yeah, I agree about Hostel. Chalk up another one on my list. That and 100 Tears. Total garbage.

Hey TVM (What the hell is your real name by the way? lmao - we're all on such a personal (as can be given its the net) level here it throws me off not to know your actual name!

I respect how firmly you stand behind your beliefs and opinions. I'd like to know what some of your favorites are?

Laid to Rest. Unique kills does not a horror movie make.

Hmmm...favorites? Believe it or not, I don't really have any personal favorites. I'm a horror fan through and through, so anything that doesn't suck is my favorite. lol. I definitley have least favorites, that's for true.

But in no particular order here are some favorites: Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Jaws. Return of the Living Dead and Part 2. Fulci's Zombie. Night of the Creeps. Fright Night (the original and part 2). An American Werewolf in London. The Howling. Child's Play. A Nightmare on Elm Street Parts 3 and 4. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2-Love Dennis Hopper in that one. R.I.P. Lefty. Brainscan (anyone remember that one?) The Devil's Rejects. Wrong Turn. The list goes on really. I'm sure I'm leaving a ton out. Ahhh, those many glorious nights spent sneaking these treasures behind my parents' unsuspecting backs.

Oh, and don't forget Rob Zombie's Halloween II. LMAO!!!

Ten years ago my absolute favorite would have been John Carpenter's Halloween because of fond childhood memories, followed by Friday the 13th Part 3 and The Final Chapter...nowadays, while I still love those movies, I look at my horror collection as a whole, and what stays on my shelf is my favorite.

As for my real name... it's John.

Best to worst truly awful films:

Grotesque - an absolute mess of a film. So dreary and surreal, not even Linda Blair could save this film.

The Video Dead - I've given this film multiple chances, yet hate it every time. Groan-inducing acting, those really embarrasng moments that clearly try to be funny but really aren't (at all), and it's really slow. The only good thing is the zombie make-up and the woman in the washing machine.

Super Hybrid - Boring, boring, boring. The sad thing is that this had so much potential, yet they bogged it down with dull, un-suspenseful scenes and crappy CGI that would make a SyFy original feature groan.

Halloween 2 (2009) - This is awful. The opening half-hour was great, yet it slowly sank into a deep crevice of terrible filmmaking with unlikeable (or believable) characters, over usage of the word "fuck", and a completely depresng and gloomy atmosphere that makes for a ver, very unpleasant evening.

The Roommate - And I thought Halloween 2 was bad! I managed to check this out, and I must say, I have no clue what anyone was thinking when they made this film. There is literally one death (outde the villain's demise) in this movie. The rest is just scaring people with the threat of killing them. Absolutely boring, horrible acting, and the poorest writing your apt to find in a horror film. Not even worth watching to laugh at.

I definitely agree with everyone that Cage sucks, but I loved him in 'Vampire's Kiss'. I thought that was a solid and hilarious effort on his part.

A few other entries to the genre I HATE along with Halloween Resurrection and RZ's

H2 -

* The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2: Despite Hopper's awesome performance, this film is a car wreck and I find it very very boring. * Gothika: Talk about boring! I had the misfortune of walking into this film after hearing really good stuff about it, some friend of mine, general online buzz etc. I thought it was rubbish and not scary at all. Not a fan of Halle Berry either. * Shutter - The Joshua Jackson remake. I haven't seen the original yet but man this film was lame and again, total absent of any form of 'horror' and/or scares. * Devil - the trailer was awesome, the film was not. I felt like this was a Christian Bible bashing you for 80 minutes.

I think everyone knows what I'm about to say. So I'll just say it and get it over with. I F***ING HATE THE NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET REMAKE! THE DAMN MOVIE MAKES ME RAGE EVERY TIME! SO MUCH SO THAT EVERY TIME IT'S BROUGHT UP IN CASUAL CONVERSATION I HAVE TO WALK AWAY TO RESTRAIN FROM GOING INTO A RANT! I HATE IT SO MUCH!....*breathes* That is all. Granted it's not the only movie I hate or loathe. But it's the only one that blinds me with sheer rage.

Hellgate (1988) - It looked like it'd be a fun, 80's zombie flick "from the makers of Hellraiser" but it was just a boring mess with dreadful acting, ridiculous dialogue and pathetic 'special' effects. I think they were going for a B- Movie feel, yet this film fails on all counts.

Nice ones dude! I couldn't stand Gothika or Shutter, the ghost beats up Halle Berry to get her attention about being murdered? Shutter was just CGI barf and neither of these films were scary or entertaining.

Agree about "Halloween: Resurrection."

It did what "Curse of Michael Myers" couldn't.

Personally, though, I have to pick "Hatchet."

I know that's not fashionably PC to pick the movie that's supposedly the be all/end all of homages to clasc slasher movies, but I grew up watching those clasc slasher movies and "Hatchet" doesn't hold a candle to them.

Just my humble opinion.

I saw Paranormal Activity for $2 and it was after it was out for like two weeks already. I live in South Texas so the ticket prices are relatively cheaper here. It was at a smaller theater so it was $2. Now they raised it to $3. ^.^ If I go to, say Corpus Christi, I would pay between $4.50-6.00.
