'The Possesion' aka 'Dibbuk Box' Gets Slapped With An 'R' Rating

We just learned today that the MPAA decion to give the Lionsgate's horror-thriller The Posseson the dreaded 'R' rating for "violence, terror, and disturbing images" is going to stand - which is quite unfortunate for the studio.

According to Variety The Clasfication and Rating Administration had asgned the movie an 'R' back in October which quickly prompted Lionsgate to appeal.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan stars in The Posseson, formerly titled "Dibbuk Box," with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert producing via their Ghost House Pictures label. Danish filmmaker Ole Bornedal directed from a script written by the tandem of Juliet Snowden and Stiles White.

Inspired by true events, the film deals with a recently divorced father's (Morgan) youngest daughter who becomes strangely connected to an antique wooden box that she purchased at a yard sale. As his daughter's behavior becomes more erratic, the father senses a dark presence building until he discovers that the box was built to contain a dibbuk -- a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.
