It seems like Roger Corman's films have become the latest targets in this whole remake craze that we've been enduring for the past 5+ years. First we saw the remake of Death Race quickly followed by the release of Piranha 3D, now it's been reported by Variey that Corman's cult clasc from 1986 "Chopping Mall," will be the next film from his extenve catalog to be given the dreadful big screen face-lift.
Robert Hall, the man behind Laid to Rest and Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2 will direct the film under his Dry County Entertainment label, re-teaming with screenwriter and producing partner Kevin Bocarde.
The original "Chopping Mall" was produced by Roger Corman and his wife Julie. It centered around a group of teenagers who become trapped in a shopping mall with killer robots.
Bocarde said the new movie won't be a straight remake. "It will retain the bac concept of young people trapped in a mall; however, the story will have a darker, supernatural spin," he explained.
