Helen Mirren May Be Joining Anthony Hopkins In 'Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho'

With r Anthony Hopkins already attached to play Alfred Hitchcock in Montecito's adaptation of the Stephen Rebello non-fiction book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho. It is now being reported by the Hollywood Reporter that Helen Mirren may be cast to play the filmmaker's wife, Alma Reville.

Sasha Gerva (Anvil! The Story of Anvil) will be directing the upcoming project from Montecito Picture Co. which is likely to begin production in April, 2012.

According to the source, the project will be based on the non-fiction book by Rebello which tracks how Hitchcock, at the height of his game as a director, decided to make a "lowly" horror movie that no movie studio wanted to touch at the time, so Hitchcock scrounged for financing by himself. The movie, of course, became one of his biggest hits and one of the most influential of all time.

John McLaughlin (Black Swan) will be handling the script which is centered around the relationship between Hitchcock and his wife Alma.
