Clive Owen Offered The Villain Role In Spike Lee's Retelling Of 'Oldboy'

Several weeks ago we delivered the news regarding Colin Firth's departure from Spike Lee's upcoming remake of the Korean revenge clasc Oldboy. It looked as if Firth was gonna play oppote Josh Brolin in the film but as we know all too well - nothing is absolute these days, especially in Hollywood.

So your probably wondering, who the hell is gonna star as the bad guy?

According to Twitch, Clive Owen has now been offered the role as the villain. If Owen agrees this would mark the second time that he worked with Lee.

The first time the pair met was back in 2006 when Owen starred alongde Denzel Washington in

Lee's underrated thriller The Inde Man.

Twitch has also informed us that Mia Wakowska has been offered the role of Marie, the female lead of the gritty thriller. The role was previously offered to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara who passed on the role this past October.

Oldboy centers around a man who is kidnapped on his daughter’s birthday and held for 15 years in solitary confinement without explanation. He is eventually released and sets out on a path to take revenge on those who destroyed his life.
