Anne Rice's Antihero Lestat Heading Back to the Big Screen?

Much beloved author Anne Rice, who has recently returned to her horror roots with her soon to be released werewolf novel The Wolf t, has revealed to fans via her very active Facebook page that the fourth novel in her Vampire Chronicles series, Tale of the Body Thief, has been optioned for the big screen by Imagine Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, known for their work on TV's Fringe, as well as the recent Transformers film series, are named as producing alongde Imagine.

This novel in the Vampire Chronicles series would be quite a change-up from the previous film adaptions, as the plot primarily follows the vampire Lestat while he is experiencing the world in a human body for the first time in centuries, and someone else has control of his vampire body.

Played by both Tom Cruise and Stuart Townsend in previous films, there is yet no word of who would take on the new film role of the Chronicles' famous antihero.

Two previous novels in the series, Interview With the Vampire and Queen of the Damned, have both already been adapted for film with very different reactions. 1994's Interview was a well-lauded gothic affair that is still much loved today, while 2002's Queen is more or less regarded as a hot mess.

Rice's new novel, The Wolf t, is available for pre-order on Amazon. Release is scheduled for this Valentine's Day:
