A true legend of horror, John Carpenter, will be in attendance at this year's convention, and will introduce a 30th anniversary screening of his 1982 remake of The Thing at the nearby Muvico Theater.
Some of the other guests attending in 2012 include scream queen Danielle Harris, everyone's favorite gravel-voiced horror icon Tony Todd, and a trio of Friday the 12th ladies: Kimberly Beck, Amy Steel and Adrienne King. The event will also feature its annual costume contest and zombie pin-up pageant.
Flashback Weekend is more than just a yearly convention; they organize events throughout the year, some of which have included Buffy fan celebrations, film premiere events and summertime dusk til dawn drive in horror movie marathons. The organization behind the con helps to promote other horror related events in and around the Chicago area.
This year's Flashback Weekend will be held August 10-12 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel, just a short drive from O'Hare airport and located outde the city proper in Rosemont, IL.
