Having this new section here on the te dedicated to films on "Netflix Instant" will hopefully provide an area where we all can share our favorite Netflix Instant Streaming movies and the ones where we aren't so happy that we sat through them. A film I found the other day that I hadn't had the chance to see was director Joe Dante's (GREMLINS) film titled, MATINEE. The film stars John Goodman as an Alfred Hitchock type B-horror movie director in the 60's during the Cuban Misle Cris.
MATINEE (which is currently on "Netflix Instant" as I type this) is such a fun movie comedy/horror type film that has so many elements to the throwback B-movies that used nothing but gimmicks to sell movie tickets. The feature presentation from John Goodman (who plays director Lawrence Woolsey) is a film called MANT. Proming half man, half ant, all terror the title uses Woolsey's new "Atomo-Vion" which is just a gimmick where the seats shake in the theater and the speakers are turned way up.
MATINEE combines so many fun elements for horror fans that if you are even remotely into the genre I can't see you not liking this film. It's a light hearted look (much in the vein of say, THE BURBS) with plenty of comedy and a good plot that shows what the tenon was like back in the 60's during this Atomic cris.
Be sure to check the film out and I would love to hear your thoughts good or bad about this film.
