'Lost' Showrunner Carlton Cuse Is A&E Bound And About To Check Into 'The Bates Motel'

A&E, which isn't known at all for offering horror based programming, is apparently trying to branch off to a different breed of audiences by developing a new series that will serve as a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock's clasc horror movie "Psycho." Needless to say, I am very curious about this project, and it hope it sees the light of day.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Carlton Cuse (pictured below), who was previously the showrunner for Lost, has now gned on to preform the same duties for the upcoming cable series The Bates Motel , which is being developed by A&E as a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. The 1960 horror clasc featured an off-his-rocker motel manager named Norman Bates who murdered occaonal boarders while under the watch of his even-more-psychotic mother.

Bates Motel, which is being produced by Mark Wolper and Roy Lee, aims to tell the story of a young Bates and how his life with his deranged mother and her lover unhinged his mind, eventually turning him into a serial killer. It has been described as a cross between "Twin Peaks" and "Smallville".

If the show is picked up to series, Cuse will executive produce and oversee the writing and production what is being envioned initially as a x-episode “event" that would lead to additional seasons. It also marks the first “genre” TV project for Cuse nce his acclaimed run on "Lost".
