This is one movie from writer/director Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity) that I am excited about. Not that Oren doesn't set me on fire with the rest of his projects but to be honest I've felt let down for the most part. That is until I got a chance to really delve into his latest project titled "Chernobyl Diaries".
It is as you would expect "handheld" found-footage style filmmaking but hey he does that sub-genre pretty well. After seeing the trailer and this new TV spot I am optimistic about this film when it hits theaters on May 25th.
Plot Synops: “Chernobyl Diaries” is an original story from Oren Peli, who first terrified audiences with his groundbreaking thriller, “Paranormal Activity.” The film follows a group of x young tourists who, looking to go off the beaten path, hire an “extreme tour” guide. Ignoring warnings, he takes them into the city of Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, but a deserted town nce the disaster more than 25 years ago. After a brief exploration of the abandoned city, however, the group soon finds themselves stranded, only to discover that they are not alone.
