When a show hangs around for seven years, it's either because the producers don't know when to pull the plug, or it's just that good - the latter still being the case with Showtime's Dexter, which is set to premiere its seventh season on Sunday, Sept. 30.
Today, via TVLine we have our first major piece of casting for the show's upcoming season which is expected to be the second-to-final round of the acclaimed hit. According to the report, former "Rome" star and Punisher: Warzone badass Ray Stevenson is set to join the ensemble cast in a major recurring role. The Irish thesp will play a high-ranking member of an Eastern European crime ring who arrives in Miami determined to learn who killed one of his associates.

No further details were available, including whether Stevenson will function as the new season's Big Bad.
Dexter fans were left with a stunning cliffhanger last season that set into motion the show’s end game. Spoiler alert for those who haven't seen it yet Dexter Morgan was discovered by his ster Debra in the middle of finishing off his latest victim — right after Debra realized she has some rather non-sterly feelings for him.
