New Year's Evil is a 1980 American slasher film starring Roz Kelly and Kip Niven, directed by Emmett Alston. In the film, "New Year's Eve is on it's way and TV's most famous punk-rock lady icon Diane Sullivan is holding a late hour countdown celebration of muc and partying. All is going well until Diane receives a phone call from a odd sounding stranger announcing on live Televion that when New Year's strikes in each time zone, a 'Naughty Girl' will be murdered (punished), and the killer leaves a threat saying she will be the one to die last. The studio crew takes precautions and heighten security, but on the other de of America, a hospital nurse is found brutally butchered. Who could be behind these murders? A crazed fan, a religious psychotic, or perhaps it's someone much closer to Diane then the police (or audience) could have ever expected. Although a flop, the film has gained a cult following, and remains popular especially at this time of the year. The only problem is trying to find it.

Bloody New Year was released in 1987. Directed by Norman J. Warren, the film stars Suzy Aitchison, Nikki Brooks and Colin Heywood. The film follow five shipwrecked English teenagers who take refuge in an island hotel that is decorated for New Years. The problem is, it's early summer, and soon enough, even the walls themselves are striking out against them... Although never released on DVD, the film can be found on eBay. So get ready to dust off your VCR, and check out this cheesy gem.

In 2007 Steel Trap was released. Directed by Luis Cámara, the film stars Georgia Mackenzie, Mark Wilson and Pascal Langdale. In the film, "It's New Year's Eve, and a group of revelers are living it up on the roof of an abandoned skyscraper when five of the guests receive an intriguing text message. According to the sender, there's an excluve VIP party happening on the twenty seventh floor, and they're all invited. Once on the floor, however, the five guests and two party crashers quickly realize that they have fallen into a trap. The only way off of this floor is to follow a series of morbid clues left by a murderous psychopath." But who conceived these deadly games, and why have they targeted this specific group? If you're a fan of the films Saw and The Collector, then you may fall in love with this film which presents its very own sadistic game of death.

Life Blood

"They Are Not Youre Average Creatures Of The Night"

Life Blood is a supernatural horror thriller film released in 2009. Directed and written by Ron Carlson, the film stars Sophie Monk, Anya Lahiri and Scout Taylor-Compton. On New Year's Eve 1968, a lesbian couple, named Brooke and Rhea, encounter the creator of the universe while driving on the Pearblossom Highway as they leave a party. The women are laid to rest for 40 years and awake New Year's Day 2009... as vampires. The film follows the couple as they are meant to lead a life of greater purpose. Instructed to devour evil, and thereby gain eternal life, the story portrays their first 24 hours of survival as these reborn creatures. Originally titled Pearblossom, it was renamed Life Blood for the DVD release in 2010. Although I haven't numbered any selections in this article, I purposely listed this film last for a reason. On a de note, the film does feature Scout Taylor-Compton who has gone on to say that her appearance is not a starring role, but a "cameo".
