Zé Do Caixão (The Coffin Joe)

Well my american people, I just want to know if anyone here knows The Coffin Joe, here in Bral called Zé do Caixão? His real name is José Mojica Marins. He was (and is) the most important icon of the brazilian horror cinema ever. He made a lot a of movies with much blood, zombies, vampires, etc. on the 60's and 70's, and some in 80's. This year he made the last film of the trilogy Encarnação do Demônio (Devil's Embodiment). I've talked about this when I started at this forum, but I needed to do this again 'cos The Coffin Joe deserve it (and I also posted it in the wrong place). The brazilian movies are divided before and after Coffin Joe. So, I'd like to share this with the fans of horror movies here, showing a bit of his history and movies, and a little bit of his life. And he has the biggest nail I ever seen!

For those who likes the clascs, he's one of the best, I'm sure.

Here is the post with some of his movies: viewtopic.php?f=71&t=2041&p=19986&hilit=+ze+do+caixao#p19986

More informations about his movies:

I hope you like! It's important for us, the brazilians fans of horror movies, to know that Coffin Joe is known on the cradle of the horror.

I'll keep posting things about this. Thanks for listen me!

we actually have a guy who entered into the costume contest on our myspace that dressed up as Coffin Joe. I have never heard of him but sounds like a cool series.

And I'm here in Bral....I suggest everybody to see Coffin's movies. They are clascs and completely scary! (a kind freak too)

A clasc from horror. It's not vulgar, despite the naked women, and had a great story!

Have fun, kids!

So I take a few months to get the contact of a guy who had participate of last Coffin Joe film "Embodyment of Evil". His name is Raymond Castille and he played the young Zé do Caixão on it. He's american and came to Bral just to meet Coffin Joe and make his participation on the film. This week I get an autographed pic from him, wich I put in a frame on my PC desk, together with the DVDs and bike miniatures.

Thanks for posting all that info LÜCKMANN!

I am a HUGE fan of Coffin Joe and own three of his films ("At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul," "This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse" and "Awakening of the Beast."

I believe the rest of his films are not available yet on DVD in America.I think his films are extremely under appreciated here in the U.S. but I know there are plenty of die hard fans. Coffin Joe's newest film looks amazing and I hope they release it in theaters here.

Check out the latest issue of Rue Morgue magazine if you haven't already. He is featured on the cover.
