The film "The Conjuring" opens in theaters this Friday and there is already big talk of sequels,
especially when the future involves making lots of money. New Line Cinema must be getting some good feelings about the buzz surrounding “The Conjuring” because the Warrens have brought about a posble franchise for them."The film, which hits theaters this July 19th, is the latest project from James Wan (“Saw” and “Indious”) and stars Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as Lorraine and Ed Warren, a pair of real-life supernatural investigators.
In “The Conjuring” the duo investigate a family that is being beeged by a malevolent spirit.
We recently talked with one of the daughters involved in the infamous incident, you should really check it out right here.
And if you’re wondering if the film is worth seeing, be sure to check out our review of it as well."
"While “The Conjuring” is the latest film to take inspiration from the lives of the Warrens, it’s not the first.
Arguably, “The Amityville Horror” would not have reached the heights of infamy that it managed to obtain without their involvement.
Then there was the 2009 film “A Haunting in Connecticut” which was also based on one of their investigations.
The Warrens are clearly a wealth of horror movie ideas and New Line recognizes that they have a potential franchise on their hands."
"Toby Emmerich, New Line Predent, told Variety “that New Line is exploring a potential franchise based on the Warrens’ investigations, which also involved cases that wound up as the movies “The Amityville Horror” and “The Haunting in Connecticut.” “We have Lorraine’s permison and support, and we are working on developing another film.”
"Carey and Chad Hayes, the two men who wrote “The Conjuring” are already gned up for a potential sequel.
With James Wan now in charge of the Fast and Furious franchise, it’s not clear what sort of involvement he’ll have in the future of the Warren’s movie career."
