"Nothing Left to Fear"

October 4th

Synops:

“Nothing Left to Fear was inspired by the legend of Stull, Kansas. Wendy (Anne Heche), her husband Dan (James Tupper of “Revenge”) and their kids have just moved to the small town of Stull, Kansas, where Dan is the new pastor. But in this sleepy community of friendly neighbors, a horrific series of occurrences awaits them: Their teenage daughter (Rebekah Brandes of Bellflower) is being tormented by grisly vions. Her younger ster (Jennifer Stone of “Wizards Of Waverly Place”) has been marked for a depraved ritual. And deep within the heartland darkness, one of The Seven Gates Of Hell demands the blood of the innocent to unleash the creatures of the damned.”

"We Are What We Are"

September 27th.

Synops:

A seemingly wholesome and benevolent family, the Parkers have always kept to themselves, and for good reason. Behind closed doors, patriarch Frank rules his family with a rigorous fervor, determined to keep his ancestral customs intact at any cost. As a torrential rainstorm moves into the area, tragedy strikes and his daughters Iris and Rose are forced to assume responbilities that extend beyond those of a typical family. The most important task that the girls face is putting meat on the table— but not the kind that can be found at the local supermarket. As the unrelenting downpour continues to flood their small town, the local authorities begin to uncover clues that bring them closer to the secret that the Parkers have held closely for so many years.

"Machete Kills"

"In MACHETE KILLS, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent MACHETE, who is recruited by the Predent of the United States for a mison which would be imposble for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.”

"Birth of the Living Dead" November 6th.

“Birth of the Living Dead,” a new documentary, shows how Romero gathered an unlikely team of Pittsburghers — policemen, iron workers, teachers, ad-men, housewives and a roller-rink owner — to shoot, with a revolutionary guerrilla, run-and-gun style, his seminal film. During that process Romero and his team created an entirely new and horribly chilling monster — one that was undead and feasted upon human flesh.

This new documentary also immerses audiences into the ngular time in which “Night” was shot. Archival footage of the horrors of Vietnam and racial violence at home combined with iconic muc from the 60s invites viewers to experience how Romero’s tumultuous film reflected this period in American history. “Birth of the Living Dead” shows us how this young filmmaker created a world-renowned horror film that was also a profound inght into how our society really works.”

"Oldboy" November 27th.

“OLDBOY is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an adverting executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. "Nica (Fiona Dourif) is grieving over the gruesome suicide of her mother when her domineering older ster Barb (Danielle Bisutti) arrives with her young family in tow to help settle their mother’s affairs. As the sters butt heads over Nica’s plans for the future, Barb’s young daughter comforts herself with a grinning, red-haired talking doll named Chucky (voiced again by Brad Dourif) that recently arrived mysteriously in the mail. But as a string of brutal murders begins to terrorize the household, Nica suspects the doll may hold the key to the bloodshed. What she doesn’t know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle. He’s determined to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier, and this time he’s going to see it through to the bloody and shocking end.”

"Gravity" October 4th.

Synops:

“Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mison, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening lence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.”"Carrie" October 18th.

Synops:

“The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.”"Prisoners" September 20th.

"How far would you go to protect your child? Keller Dover (Jackman) is facing every parent’s worst nightmare. His x-year-old daughter, Anna, is misng, together with her young friend Joy; and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had earlier been parked on their street. Heading the investigation, Detective Loki (Gyllenhaal) arrests its driver, Alex Jones (Dano), but a lack of evidence forces the only suspect’s release. Knowing his child’s life is at stake, the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. The desperate father will do whatever it takes to find the girls, but in doing so, he may lose himself, begging the question: When do you cross the line between seeking justice and becoming a vigilante?"

I, for one, am disappointed in the horror line up for the end of the year. Especially in October. =/

Prisoners, Curse of Chucky, and Machete Kills are the only ones I want to see on this list. Gravity looks downright stupid as anyone with knowledge of outer space knows how stupid the movie is. Carrie as well looks awful. Nothing of what I saw so far looks good. Just another awful remake.

I just can't deal with remakes anymore. I cannot in good conscience support anything that's perpetuating the death of original content in the industry. Remakes are the neurosyphilis of the entire genre.
