Television is on top of it's game more so than ever these days, providing some of the most incredible shows that the world has ever seen. One thing that it is lacking is a solid anthology series like TALES FROM THE CRYPT, THE OUTER LIMITS , and THE TWILIGHT ZONE. Rumors have been floating around about such a show, and now the news comes out that TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE is gearing up for a 21st Century Reboot.
Who is responsible for this effort? The CW will be in charge of the venture, along with Alex Kurtzman, Bob Orci, and Joe Hill. George A. Romero brought us the original 1984 series. Romero had previously done a similar style of filming with CREEPSHOW which in turn he took that vibe and converted it over to the small screen with TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE. The series even spawned a feature film of the same title in 1990. Something that should be noted is that Joe Hill, who will be in charge of writing the new series, is the son of Stephen King and he also made an appearance in the original CREEPSHOW.
The trio of Alex Kurtzman, Bob Orci, and Joe Hill all previously were coworkers on the hopeful television adaptation of LOCKE & KEY for Fox, but that effort did not make it past the pilot episode. With that being said we must realize that although TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE is in the works, it does not mean that it will for certain obtain television series status. We will continue to keep you posted on any updates and news for this story as they develop.
