Jason Voorhees has been a household name for many years. After being featured in a dozen feature films, he is now preparing to take the journey to the small screen.
Crystal Lake Entertainment and Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films have secured a deal to be producing a new hour long dramatic series which will be based on characters and settings from the world of FRIDAY THE 13TH.
Sean S. Cunningham is on board as executive producer along with EFO Films principals Randall Emmett & George Furla, Mark Canton of Atmosphere Entertainment MM, Steve B. Harris of Diversion3 Entertainment, and Ted Fox of Fox Entertainment. Horror Inc. president Robert Barsamian, who produced the features will also be helping produce the new series.
As we reported back in January, Roy Knyrim of SOTA FX is the series' effects master.
Bill Basso and Jordu Schell have the task of scripting a story which will re-imagine Jason within multiple periods of time.
The new series will be contemporary, putting the focus on characters of Crystal Lake who will be confronting the returning killer and unveiling new secrets and information about Jason's family.
“Jason Voorhees is synonymous with the genre and we plan to build on this legacy with a provocative and compelling take that expands upon the storylines that have already thrilled millions worldwide.”
Robert Barsamian added:
“Expect the show to take viewers in some exciting new directions that we’re confident will not only excite existing fans of Friday The 13th but also attract new audiences to the situations and characters that inhabit the small town of Crystal Lake.”
We will continue to bring you the latest on all things FRIDAY THE 13TH.
